Kapag is implementing an environment-friendly, economical propane chiller

The Basel-based pharmaceutical company Konapharma AG has opted for environment-friendly, economical refrigeration with propane (R290) for the expansion of its production site in Pratteln. Features that give the plant added efficiency include heat recovery in the refrigeration system as well as a high percentage of free cooling.

At its "Im Wannenboden" site in Pratteln, opened in 2009, Konapharma manufactures finished medical products under the strictest hygiene conditions. Virtually the entire production building consists of clean rooms with high air exchange rates and constant humidity conditions. For this reason, air handling requires about 50% of the generated cooling output.
